Biography:

Józef Czajkowski (1872-1947), born in Warsaw, son of Wojciech and Adela (née Ziembińska), painter, architect, graphic artist and pedagogue. He studied in Munich, Paris, Vienna and Krakow. He taught, among others, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he served as director. He was a co-founder of several artistic associations, including the 'Polish Applied Art Society' and the 'ŁAD Artists' Cooperative'. He created landscapes, portraits and genre scenes, designed furniture, stained glass, posters and kilims. He is buried in Warsaw's Powązki cemetery.
