The history of Adam Mickiewicz monuments in Ternopil dates back to 1895, when the first commemoration of the Polish national bard was erected in the square near the town hall. The author of the sculpture was Tomasz Dykas. The monument survived until 1917, when it was destroyed by Ukrainian nationalists. In 1923, a new sculpture was erected, designed by Apolinary Głowiński. Today, the commemoration does not exist. It was probably destroyed during World War II or in the post-war period.
