Stach Szumski (1992-), born in Gdańsk, is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture, installation, printmaking and interventions in public space. A graduate of the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, he has been involved in the independent art scene of Lower Silesia. Co-founder of Warsaw's V9 gallery (2013-2016) and Nomadic State collective (2015-2020). In his work he combines prehistoric, symbolic and contemporary motifs, exploring the continuity of visual forms of communication. Participant of artistic residencies in Prague and Indonesia, among others; scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Goethe-Institut and the Mayor of Warsaw. His works have been presented at the Zachęta Gallery, the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, the National Museum in Wrocław, the Kyoto Art Center and the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Art. He lives and works in Michałowice in the Karkonosze Mountains.
