Biography:

Stanisław Słonina (1936), born in Krzczonów. He studied at the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zakopane. After graduating from high school in 1956, he began his studies at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His supervisor was Marian Wnuk. In 1964 he joined the Rekonesans group. From 1978 to 1981, he served as pro-rector of the academy. He was twice appointed dean of the sculpture faculty. His first term was from 1981 to 1984 and his second term was from 1996 to 1999. He realised many sculptures and monuments. He also produced medals. He has participated in numerous Polish and foreign exhibitions. He has received several prizes and awards, including the Gold Medal of the Argentine Parliament (2000).
