Fountain in Place Saint-Lambert in Liège

The fountain in Place Saint-Lambert in Liège, by Halinka Jakubowska, was created in 1997. It is located in front of the Archéoforum archaeological museum, which displays the relics of the Saint-Lambert Cathedral that once stood here. Halinka Jakubowska's fountain was made of stone (granite), the artist's favourite material. The realisation consists of two stone parts set perpendicularly to each other. The first, higher, is a rough rock, worked in vertical strips. The second, lower and placed horizontally relative to the first, is smoother. From its surface, a shaft with a nozzle is brought out, from which water flows over the entire surface of the second rock. Both are located on a low rise, below which is a wider and relatively shallow pool with an overflow.
