Biography:

Zofia Wolska (1934 - 2016), Polish sculptor creating monumental sculptures and small ceramic works. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, her last student in the studio of Xawery Dunikowski, with whom she moved to Warsaw in 1955. She took part in many competitions. she won a number of awards. She often created portraits of famous figures, both contemporary and foreign. Her works can be found both in Poland and abroad, and have been presented to important personalities including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, François Mitterrand, Vaclav Havel, King Baudouin I of Belgium, Valdas Adamkus, Queen Sylvia of Sweden, Hillary Clinton and Pope John Paul II. From the 1990s, she received commissions from the office of the President of Poland. In 1995, she opened the "Author's Sculpture Studio" in her studio. Her works include: Monument to the Executed (1961); Monument to the Partisans, Saint Catherine (1962); Head of Nicolaus Copernicus (1973), as well as a series of Chopin sculptures created since 1975, which are located, among others, in Żelazowa Wola, at Okęcie Airport in Warsaw or in Valldemossa, Majorca.
