Pauline sanctuary of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown

Variants of the name:
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa

The church's exact address is 654 Ferry Road, Beacon Hill, Doylestown, PA.

A three-nave, two-storey church on a trapezoidal plan, preceded by a system of ramps and stairs. Steel construction in the nave section, reinforced concrete in the chancel. Facades segmented with precast reinforced concrete panels, alternating with stained glass walls. Next to the façade a free-standing reinforced concrete tower. Total length of church 66 m, height 21 m.

In the Church we can distinguish the Dome of the Holy Trinity, considered the "jewel in the crown" of the Basilica, as it was the last element to complete the National Shrine according to the original architectural and iconographic plans. The ring of the dome is surrounded by the Nicene Creed. The other major object inside is what is considered one of the largest bas-reliefs in the world, the Universal Call to Holiness - it is 780 square feet in area and weighs more than 37 tonnes. The inspiration for the bas-relief comes from the dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium (1964).

The design of the church itself was conceived in 1964, with realisation in 1965-67.
