Bronisław Chromy (1924-2017), born in Leńcze, son of Andrzej and Maria née Sikora. He grew up in a poor household with many children. He began his work in Franciszek Tiesler's artistic metal foundry in Kraków. There he was noticed by the well-known sculptor Karol Hukan. Thanks to his persuasion, he graduated from the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Krakow and then went on to study at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts. His teacher was Xawery Dunikowski. He worked at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice for 17 years. He later lectured in Kraków. He had many exhibitions in Poland. He realised numerous sculptures in Poland and abroad. His most famous realisations include: the unusual and very expressive "Crucifixion. From Life to Life', the figure of Christ in the Church of the Ark of the Lord in Nowa Huta (1977), the Monument to the Soviet-Polish Brotherhood of Arms in Ryazan (1983), and the Monument to 'Piwnica pod Baranami' in Park Decius in Krakow (2000). In addition to sculpture, he was also involved in poetry. One volume of his work was published. He died in Krakow, where he was buried in the Salwator Cemetery.
