Zygmunt Stankiewicz (1914-2010), born in Białystok. In 1939, he took part in the September Campaign. He was interned in Switzerland. From 1946 to 1948, he served as director of the Polish Museum in Raperswil. In Switzerland, he opened a lighting fixture factory. He founded the Polish Historical Museum in Muri near Bern. In exile, he was an active activist and ambassador of Polish culture.
