Information about the object:
Yanivsky cemetery is the second largest preserved cemetery in Lviv after Lychakivsky cemetery. It is the burial place of many people of merit for the city, its culture, education and functioning. Polish soldiers also rest here. Among the most prominent objects are the tombs of the Dzięgielowski family with the bas-relief "Road to Eternity" by Teobald Orkasiewicz, the tombstones from the workshop of Karol Pereira or the tombs from the stone-sculpting workshop of Władysław Korzewicz and Ludwik Tyrowicz.

Completed works:
The aim of the project was to continue the restoration work in the Yanov cemetery in Lviv, which was started in 2018 with a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. This systematically succeeds in restoring the artistic, historical and symbolic values of the site.

2020
This year saw the completion of the second stage of conservation work on two tombs, i.e. that of the Dzięgielowski family and that of the Tomaszewski family, signed by stonemason Henryk Perier. As a result of the work carried out, the tombs were restored to their splendour.

2021
In 2021, five more graves were conserved. These were tombstones located in the main avenues: Władysław Ryznerski - a captain in the Austro-Hungarian army; the Zajączkowski family with one of the few preserved statues of the Virgin Mary; a limestone gravestone with art déco decoration in the technical range; a modernist gravestone of Maurycy Roliński and a gravestone of the Ukrainian artist Modest Sosenka.

2021
The year 2022 was the fourth season of conservation work carried out by the foundation in the Yanivsky cemetery in Lviv.

Five tombstones located along the main avenues of the cemetery were selected for conservation; work also began on an 18th century column standing in front of its main gate.

The tombstones are mostly made of sandstone, which was the main material used in the cemetery. These include the tombs of the Pichler family and the Chandermander family (the one with ornamental decorations in the art deco style), the tombstone of a representative of the lay congregation of the Third Order of St Francis - Emilia Wołkowa of Kuliński, the tombstone of the Herbst family in the form of a rock, with an artistically valuable figure of Christ on the cross. The second stage of work was also carried out on a limestone stele with obliterated inscriptions, making it impossible to identify the buried persons.

In front of the main entrance gate to the Janów cemetery there is a column of the "lantern of the dead" type, presumably dating from the 17th century, moved from another location in 1938, and rebuilt according to the concept of architect and conservator Michał Łobos. The Tuscan-type column, oversized in proportions, is set on a two-stepped pedestal; it features a block with four balusters at the corners, covered by a hipped roof and topped by a ball with a metal cross. In 2020, the object was covered with a thick layer of cement, which rendered the sculptural form illegible and contributes to the accelerated destruction. During a storm in 2021, the ball with the cross was broken. In 2022, it is planned to clean the object from the build-up and carry out the necessary technical treatments. Work will continue in the following season.
