Information about the object:
Image of the CM of Slavs in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saints Cyril and Methodius in Velehrad. This is the most famous Czech, or rather Moravian, shrine of Saints Cyril and Methodius, also visited by St John Paul II during his pilgrimage to the Czech Republic. The painting was painted by Jan Matejko (whose father was a Czech) and donated to the Velehrad basilica by Polish pilgrims in 1885, on the 1000th anniversary of the death of St Methodius. The painting is located in the right-hand nave of the basilica.

Completed works:
The project involves the continuation of searches in district museums and Czech archives. The search for Polish monuments is carried out in the Olomouc (Przerov, Prostiejov, Szumperk) and Zlin (Uherske Hradišče) districts.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions introduced in Poland and the Czech Republic, this year's project has been postponed until September-November. As a result, we do not yet have any material documenting the results of the searches carried out. Nevertheless, the person who links all this year's queried localities is Count Adam Chyszów-Romer. Thanks to the commitment of the Director of the Museum in Nový Jičín, Radek Polach, a permanent exhibition devoted to this Romer line is being prepared in the chateau halls in Nova Hora. The beneficiary also has original diaries and family photo albums, which are being completed with a view to a comprehensive publication. Of interest, but often escaping "tourist" attention, are the Polish monuments, including the painting CM SLAVIANS in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saints Cyril and Methodius in Velehrad.
