Adam Chmielowski (also known as St. Brother Albert 1845-1916) Polish Franciscan friar, founder of the Albertine and Albertine congregations, insurgent, painter, saint of the Catholic Church, known for his dedicated work for the poor and homeless. He studied at the Cadet School in St Petersburg (1855), at the Polytechnic and Agricultural and Forestry Institute in New Alexandria (1861) and at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts (1870). He was declared blessed in 1938 and then declared a saint at his canonisation in 1989.
