On the busy Luisenstrasse 33, in the centre of Munich's Kunstareal art district, is the former residence of German artist Franz von Lenbach. The villa, in the Italian Renaissance style, was designed by architect Gabriel von Seidl and built between 1887 and 1891. Since 1929, the building has served as the home of the Lenbach City Gallery. Although the gallery is mainly known for its collection of 19th-century and expressionist paintings, its collection also includes contemporary art, including three oil paintings by the Polish artist Wilhelm Sasnal (b. 1972).

The narrative of the exhibition reflected, among other things, on the issue of medium and the technical solutions used by contemporary artists.
