Bolshochtinsky Bridge in St. Petersburg

The Bolshochtinsky Bridge in St Petersburg is a steel openwork structure erected over the Neva River between 1907 and 1911. It is a three-span bridge, 334.8 m long and approximately 23 m wide. The middle span acts as a two-wing drawbridge to allow the passage of ships.

The steel elements were manufactured in Warsaw, at the Rucki Brothers metallurgical company, and then transported to the construction site. You can read about the origin of these elements and the history of the bridge on a commemorative plaque cast in bronze placed on the pylon by the pedestrian promenade.
