Commemoration of Luciano Kluczewski in Santiago

Santiago | Chile
Santiago de Chile

Luciano Kluczewski was a Chilean architect with Polish roots. His grandfather, Antoni Kluczewski, took part in the January Uprising, for which he was awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari. Luciano's father, Bolesław Eugeniusz, a civil engineer specialising in mining, arrived in Chile in 1872. There he met Luisa García Rodríguez, whom he married and had two children. One of them was Luciano, a future prominent architect. He is considered one of the pioneers of modernist architecture in Chile. A street in Santiago, close to the house he designed and lived in, is named after him. There is also a commemorative plaque on the facade of the building.
