Place de Varsovie in Paris

Place de Varsovie - a new-age but busy square measuring about 120 metres by 90 metres, located in the western part of Paris, at the junction of two elegant districts, the 16th and the 7th, on the north side of the Seine, near the Eiffel Tower, at the junction of the avenue of the United Nations and New York. It received its name in 1928 by decree on 20 April, and just a few days later, on 5 May, the inauguration ceremony took place with General Maxime Weygand in attendance.

In 1937, the square temporarily hosted the Polish pavilion at the World Exhibition. Forty years later, a memorial was erected on the square to commemorate the Polish veterans of 1939-1945. Although today the site is not distinguished by its original buildings - almost only a kiosk and a carousel can be found here - it is instead an excellent vantage point for admiring the panorama of the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadéro gardens.
