Burial site originally marked by a sculptural group depicting St Francis embracing Christ Crucified, on a two-stage plinth and base. Sculptural group lost, lies nearby. Christ nailed to the cross, right arm embraces St Francis, who embraces the Crucified with his hands. First step of plinth glazed, with chamfered upper edges. Second step of plinth high, with unpreserved upper part. On the front side, a stepped panel enclosed with an overhanging arch, with quarter-circle chamfered lower corners, in which a bas-relief cross embraced by crossed hands emerging from a cloud and an engraved inscription below (1). On the right side, a panel enclosed in a semicircle with quarter-circle chamfered lower corners, within which is a relief figure of Mary. The figure on its own pedestal, shown frontally, in slight counterpoint, with her hands folded in a gesture of prayer. She is dressed in a long gown with maforium flowing along her shoulders, from head to ground. Below, an engraved inscription (2). On the left side an analogous panel with a relief figure of St Francis. The figure on its own pedestal, portrayed frontally, in slight contrapposto. In her left hand she holds a cross, the lower arm of which she supports with her right hand. The saint is dressed in a long gown tied at the waist, a cloak over her shoulders flowing down along her arms past her knees, and a veil on her head covering her shoulders.
