Cemetery in Krasilov

The Catholic cemetery in Krasiłów covers an area of about 1 ha. Zbigniew Hauser reports that it is neglected and disused. The author mentions a few inscriptions from the monuments and mentions finding several tombstones in a residual state.

The cemetery was most likely established in the second half of the 19th century. The best preserved is the tombstone of the owners of Krasiłów, in the shape of a soaring neo-Gothic cast-iron chapel decorated with turrets, maswerki, pointed arches and topped with a cross. The inscription in French points to the 1870s.

The parish priest of the local parish, Kazimierz Mazur, who was murdered in 1921, was commemorated in the cemetery by the parishioners with a polychrome chapel on the priest's grave topped by a cross with a polychrome bas-relief of Jesus. Hauser read it as a figure of the Virgin Mary. In 1994, when the study was erected, the bas-relief head of the figure was whitewashed. During the restoration, it acquired a colourful polychrome, and a full slab was created from the headstone band by making a facing https://slowopolskie.online/ku-czci-ksiedza-kazimierza-mazura-z-krasilowa/ .

The cemetery with Polish gravestones is cared for by local parishioners.
