Roman Catholic cemetery in Kamień Košice

Back in 1995, when it was described by Zbigniew Hauser, the municipal cemetery in Kamień Koszyski was very neglected and covered with overgrowth. At that time, the author found six gravestones with Polish inscriptions on them, the oldest of which belongs to Franciszka Dworzycka, who died in 1866, and her son, who had died two years earlier. The best preserved gravestone is the imposing monument with a stone cross erected to Bolesław Skrzyński, who died in 1933. The stone plinth of Olga Sulikowska's unpreserved gravestone from 1944 bears the signature of the maker: "L. Lisak in Kowel ". A tin plinth of an unnamed grave has also been preserved, with a beautiful rhymed inscription, "Mother of the son did not survive/Father cries both deaths/And in his orphanhood sends/Prayer to God the throne/I will receive them to my glory in heaven/And may they adore thee forever". The ruins of the cemetery chapel are preserved in the Catholic cemetery: plastered pillars and a fragment of the brick wall of the presbytery. In the unpreserved churchyard stands a chapel from the 17th century, which, thanks to the efforts of a Polish woman, Ludmila Arseniuk, has been restored and serves as a parish church. According to the ,,Monitor Wołyński", Ukrainian archaeologists carried out cleaning works at the Polish cemetery in Kamień Koszyski, without excavations. Attention was drawn to the problem of reburials in old graves https://monitorwolynski.com/pl/news/2994-23601 .

Documentation has been made for the cemetery (42 cards, stored in the MKiDN). Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
