Bereza cemetery

The Roman Catholic cemetery was probably established in the 1st half of the 19th century, as indicated by the oldest surviving gravestone. It is currently not in use. After its destruction in the 1940s, the area was used as an Orthodox cemetery. Two tombstones have survived from the original establishment. The older one (a brick obelisk) dates from the 1st half of the 19th century, but the lack of an inscription plaque makes identification impossible. The other, a granite pedestal, dates from 1883 and commemorates Mieczysław and Marianna Somkowicz. The cemetery also contains the grave of Józef Niedzielski (d. 1938), a Polish communist trade union activist of the inter-war period.

Photographic documentation has been made for the cemetery (stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
