Cemetery in Lyakhovichi

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak, the Catholic cemetery has a rectangular plan, 2.7 hectares in area and is fenced with a metal fence. It was established at the beginning of the 20th century. The oldest gravestone, dating from 1910, is on the grave of Helusi Ilnicka and has the form of a cast iron cross with a plaque bearing the inscription: "S. P HELUSIA ILNICKA / + 13 FEBRUARY 1910. LIVED 16 YEARS / YOU WERE AN ANGEL OF GOODNESS LIVED / WITH A HEART IN OUR HEARTS / YOU WILL REMAIN FOR EVER / BELOVED DAUGHTER". Buried in the cemetery together with the sisters of the 73rd "LZ", is Father Dean Stanislaw Rokosz. We do not know the reason for their deaths. The inscription reads: "S. P. KSIĄNDZ / STANISŁAW / ROKOSZ / AND SISTERS FROM 73 LZ 12 II 1942 / P. PARISH". As the aforementioned authors report, "vegetables are grown on the vacant land of the cmnetarz".
