Cemetery in Niedźwiedzica

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Anna Lewkowska, Jacek Lewkowski and Wojciech Walczak, the active Catholic cemetery was established on a rectangular plan and has a 1.2 ha area surrounded by a wooden fence. It has two parts: an older northern part and a newer southern part. It was created in the first half of the 19th century. The older part contains dozens of tombstones from that century. The oldest gravestone, from 1850, was founded by Paweł Korczyc. Resting under it are Rotmistrz Tadeusz Korczyc with his two daughters-in-law, Antonina and Ludwika, and his grandson Aleksanderm. Nearby is also the gravestone of another Tadeusz Korczyc (d. 1879), a captain in the Russian army, buried with his wife Elisabeth, née Goydcka-Ćwirk. The cemetery also contains, among others, the tombstone of Placyd Bohdziewicz, parish priest of the local parafia, and Mikhail Pavlovich Morgunov, an airman killed in 1939. The inscription of the latter reads: "ZDJES POHORONIEN / WOJENNYJ LYOTCZYIK / KAPITAN / MORGUNOV / MICHAIŁ PAWŁOWICZ / RODIŁSJA 25 XI. 1914 G. / POGIB 22 IX 1939 G. / WIECZNAJA PAMIAT I SŁAWA / WIERNOMY SYN / NASZEJ RODINY". As the aforementioned authors write, "the south side is a new cemetery with post-1945 styleless gravestones."
