Biography:

Abraham Weinbaum (1890-1943) - Polish-Jewish painter; active in France and Belgium. After moving from Kamieniec Podolski, where he was born, he spent his youthful years in Lodz. He received his artistic education in Odesa - probably at the School of Fine Arts; and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was associated with the Yungt youth movement. From 1910 he resided intermittently in Paris. Locally, he resided in the artist colony La Ruche. In the 1930s, he exhibited under the artistic pseudonym Albert Wenbaum. He created pastels, oil paintings, watercolours or prints. In his art, he liked to depict scenes from the everyday life of the Jewish diaspora.
