Agata Dworzak's publication is a monograph on the history and artistic output of the Polejowski family, architects and sculptors active in Lviv in the second half of the eighteenth century.

The author has comprehensively reconstructed the artistic biographies of the Polejowski brothers against the background of Lviv's sculptural milieu, exposing their significance for the formation of the sculpture of the eastern lands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the eighteenth century. At the same time, focusing on one family, she has meticulously depicted the socio-artistic phenomena and mechanisms shaping the everyday life of artists, workshop production and the art of eighteenth-century Lviv.

The publication is the result of the author's extremely inquisitive research, thanks to which she found valuable, hitherto unpublished photographs of destroyed statues and works of small architecture, and obtained important data on the Polejowski family from sources containing, as it would seem, little information on the history of art, such as registry books or notarial records. It is undoubtedly a must-read for researchers into the modern history of the sculpture of the Republic, filling a gap in research into the so-called Lvov rococo sculpture.

The publication is complemented by an extensive and meticulously prepared catalogue of works and appendices, which include editions of source documents. An integral part of the book is the superbly presented illustrative material, including more than 300 photographs.

The book was published as part of the Polonica Institute's scientific series 'Studies and Materials' and was published in collaboration with the 'Societas Vistulana' Scientific Society.
