Biography:

Agnieszka Polska (born 1985) is a Warsaw-based artist working in the fields of film, animation and photography. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (2004-2005), the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (2005-2010) and the University of the Arts in Berlin (2008-2009). She has gained recognition for her animations based on the idea of reviving old photographs. In her work, she willingly draws on the work of other artists, especially on their methods of documentation; she addresses current social problems such as ecological disaster or the rise of nationalist sentiment. Her work has been exhibited at MoMA in New York, Nottingham Contemporary and the Belvedere in Vienna, among others.
