Biography:

Aleksander Minkowski (1933-2016), Polish writer, reporter and film scriptwriter, author of the book "Wyprawa na rue Lepic" (1967) describing J. Burka.

During World War II, he and his family were in exile in Komi (USSR), which he described in the books 'Road to Niury' (1964) and 'Gruby' (1966). A graduate in Russian philology at Warsaw University, he made his debut in 1956 in Przegląd Kulturalny (Cultural Review). He was the co-author of the play The Forger and His Daughter, staged in 1959 by Jerzy Jarocki.

In 1954-1957, he collaborated with the editorial team of "Po prostu", then worked as a reporter in the weekly "Świat". Together with Kazimierz Dziewanowski, he published the reportage Five Thousand Kilometres of the Future (1961). He taught in the USA at Columbia University and Hunter College (1969-1972). He was editor of, among others, the weekly magazines "Tu i teraz" and "Skandale". He served as president of the Polish section of the IBBY (1978-1994) and was active in the Polish Writers' Union.

Author of books for children and young people, including the series 'Tropiciele złoczyńców' (published under the pseudonym Alex Hunter). His public activities included involvement in the Korczak Renaissance Foundation. Member of the Polish United Workers' Party from 1967 until 1990.
