Alfred Maciej Durski, a pioneer of gymnastics in the Polish lands, co-author of the programme and system of the so-called Sokol Gymnastics, and creator of the native terminology in this field. From 1875 onwards, he was the head of the Sokol Gymnastic Association in Lwow.
