He studied photography at the Phototechnical School Complex in Warsaw, at the Higher School of Photography in Ostrava and at courses organised by the Union of Polish Art Photographers. He was associated with the circle of creators of the so-called elementary photography. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw he ran a studio of photography at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. In 1985 he emigrated to Canada, where he took up commercial photography, specialising in architecture, architectural models and interiors. He worked with Lenscape Inc. and later founded his own company, Klotzek Studio. The artist exhibited his work at Toronto's Gallery 44. In the mid-1990s, Andrzej Maciejewski moved to Yarker, Ontario, where he runs his own gallery-studio, is involved in art projects, teaches classes teaching the basics of photography, and is active in the community.

He built a portable photographic darkroom, a mobile Camera Obscura and pinhole cameras for the classes. Since 2005. At the invitation of various institutions, such as museums, the YMCA, photography clubs, the artist has prepared lectures on the secrets of the photographic workshop, the history of photography, famous photographers who played an important role in the development of the art of photography. The artist is fascinated by the asset of photography - the ability to repeat exactly the same shot at different times, which allows him to document natural processes such as the passage of time, the weather, the cycles of nature, the wear and tear of things.

Work in catalogue
Andrzej Maciejewski, photograph 'Garden of Eden', 2012 The artist has combined the 17th century style of still life painting (stil-leven) with the contemporary treatment of fruit and vegetables by vendors. One senses an ironic approach, showing the contemporary marketing style, disfiguring produce and making it purely a commodity. Our 'Eden' is a wholesaler or warehouse where goods are labelled and packaged for sale.
