Angel with Lech Walesa's moustache from the Holy Trinity Column

The Holy Trinity Column (otherwise known as the Morava Column) in Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia, depicts the figures of the seven saints and was built to commemorate the end of an epidemic that struck the town in the 18th century. During the restoration of the column between 1979 and 1983, Polish craftsmen-artists decided to give the figure of one of the angels the moustache characteristic of Lech Wałęsa. At first no one noticed it, but in time this unique styling of one of the angels was noticed. Apparently, the Polish restaurateurs were then chased out of Slovakia (but were probably already in Poland anyway), and by a decision of the city council, the sculpture of the angel with a moustache styled after Lech Wałęsa was replaced by another one produced in record time.
