Biography:

Antonina Elżbieta Petrykiewicz (1874-1966), born in Lviv, director, screenwriter, actress, translator and educator. She was the first Polish film director and the only female director of silent cinema in Poland. She made her debut in 1918 in Berlin with the film "Die Heiratsannonce". After returning to Poland, she directed, among others, 'Tamara' (1919) and the melodrama 'Chats' (1920). Her films, often part of the current of patriotic cinema, have not survived to this day.

She founded the Warsaw School of Stage-Film Play, where Aleksander Żabczyński, among others, studied, and its branches operated in several Polish cities. She translated plays and served as an editor of the film press.

After World War II, she left for Paris, where she died in 1966.
