Barbara Falkowska (1931-2022), Polish artist, creator of artistic textiles. In 1956 she graduated from the Faculty of Textiles at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She also completed a pedagogical study there. From 1962 to 1963, she was an assistant at the Faculty of Interior Design. Since 1979, she has given lectures and workshops in Poland and abroad. In her work, she treated colour in a painterly way and was strongly inspired by tradition. She was the first Polish artist to use letters as an element of decoration in artistic textiles ("Elegy", 1965). Among other things, she used motifs of Polish vegetation ('Beans from the Ground', 1966), which was popular among artists of artistic textiles at the time, but as she herself said, anything that interested her could be a theme. She has participated in many exhibitions and has won numerous awards.
