Biography:

Bohdan Maria Józef Geisler, (1896-1956), born in Oświęcim, son of Eugeniusz and Sabina née Klęska, a qualified lieutenant-colonel in the infantry of the Polish Army and the Polish Armed Forces. He was affiliated with the sambork "Sokol", scout and scouting teams. During the First World War he fought in the 2nd lancer regiment of the Polish Legions. He then served in the Polish Army. He took part in the Polish-Soviet War. In 1922, he was promoted to captain. He served in Słonim, Rembertów, Jarocin, Grodno. He completed numerous military courses. On 27 January 1930, he was appointed major. He took part in the September Campaign of 1939. From 7th September, he was chief of staff of the Poznań Brigade of National Defence. On 18 September, during the Battle of the Bzura, he was taken prisoner by the Germans (until spring 1945). He then served in the Polish Armed Forces. He was a member of the Historical Commission of the General Staff. After the war, he remained in exile in Great Britain. He was a member of the Reorganisation Commission of the National Treasury (1954), the Provisional General Commission of the National Treasury (1954), and was head of the Ministry for Polish Citizens Abroad (1954-1955). He was posthumously appointed colonel in the infantry officers' corps.
