She studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts and Painting of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. She defended her diploma in 1985 in the painting studio under Professor Andrzej S. Kowalski. She came to Canada in 1989. She enrolled at Sheridan College in Oakville, at the Faculty of Animation Arts and Design. She created her own graphic design company, carrying out commissioned projects for companies and private clients. For the past few years, she has been working exclusively with painting. She is closest to abstract painting, charcoal drawing and pastels.
The artist's works can be found in the collection of the Silesian Museum in Katowice and in private collections in England, France, Germany, Japan, USA, Canada and Poland.

Bożena Bar, 'The Lightness', acrylic, oil on canvas, 182 x 147 cm The artist expresses herself in the language of abstraction by focusing attention with colour and texture. "The Lightness" catches the eye with its variety of stains and textures. This play of forms, which has something of a musical composition, is free of connections. Inscribed in the blue background, the yellow half-circle is a source of light.
