Biography:

Bruno Elkouken (1893-1968) was an architect active in Poland and France. He was born in Sosnowiec, in the Zagłębie Dabrowskie region, to a family of assimilated Polish Jews. A graduate of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, he was a member of the Polish avant-garde group Praesens. In 1929, he permanently emigrated from the Republic of Poland. He went first to Germany and then via Italy to France. From 1929 he was a member of the International Association of Architects (CIAM), and from 1945 - of the Association of Modern Artists. Association of Modern Artists (Union des Artistes Modernes, UAM). He was granted French citizenship in 1948.
