This time, as part of our 'Oral History' interview series, we present an interview with Mrs Cecylia Rey.

She was born on 28 July 1921 in Sieciechowice. She is the daughter of Jadwiga Maria Rey Branicka and Stanisław Kostka Ludwik Rey of the Oksza coat of arms. Her brother is Stanisław Rey, whose wife and son currently manage the Chateau de Montrésor.

After the Second World War, Cecylia Rey married Jerzy Szerauc, with whom she had five children. With her husband, parents and siblings, she moved permanently to an estate in France. She initiated the process, which continues to this day, of the descendants of the Branicki family settling in cottages clustered around the Rey castle, thus making Montrésor a place for nurturing Polish traditions abroad.
