Cmentarz armii gen. Andersa

In the autumn of 1941, a Polish military camp of the nascent Anders Army was located in the village of Koltubanka and the nearby settlement of Shirokovskoye. The School Company of the Buzuluk Garrison Headquarters was stationed here, its commander being Capt. Jerzy Emir-Hassan.

Due to the fact that the army conscripts were Polish exiles exhausted by disease and work over strength, some of them died during their stay in the training camp; the names of 13 dead soldiers are known. They were buried in the forest next to the settlement of Shirokovskoye, near the clearing where the army camp was located.

In the 1960s, the village of Koltubanka was liquidated and today there is no trace of it. A large clearing with visible traces of earthworks remains at the site of the military camp.

In the 1990s, the outlines of soldiers' graves were still visible in the Shirokov forest. In 2001, a memorial to the dead soldiers was erected near the burial site. It consists of two plaques, placed on a small concrete pedestal. The plaque in Polish and Russian proclaims: "To the Soldiers of the Polish Army of General Władysław Anders 1941-1942". Next to it, the local authorities placed a second plaque, with an inscription only in Russian, dedicated to the soldiers of the Soviet army.

On 26.10.2013, a new monument was unveiled near the military camps of Koltubanka and Shirokovskoye. It is a vertical, rectangular, black granite plaque, topped with the bulge used at the bottom of coat of arms plaques. The plaque is engraved with an image of an eagle and an inscription in Polish and Russian: "To the memory of the officers and soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces in the USSR formed in the Buzulutsk region under the command of Major General Władysław Anders, who died in 1941-1942 and rest in this cemetery. You have fulfilled your soldierly and patriotic duty to your Homeland and the Polish nation. In tribute - Compatriots". Following the unveiling of this memorial, the commemoration erected in 2001 was removed.

Currently, the area where the cemetery is located is part of the Buzulutskiy Bor national park. For this reason, visiting the necropolis is severely hampered by administrative regulations.
