Catholic cemetery in Luboml

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Documentation has been made for the cemetery (81 cards stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).

The Roman Catholic cemetery in Luboml is located in the western part of the town on Družby Street. It is not fenced and the gravestones are located in an area overgrown with grasses, bushes and single trees. Zbigniew Hauser in 1995 discovered about 20 tombstones there with inscriptions partially obliterated, of which, apart from one - Helena of Jarkowska Pióro, who died in 1909 - all were overturned. The author's attention was drawn to a fragment of a gravestone with a bas-relief of a woman in loose robes leaning over a sarcophagus and a bas-relief of an anchor on the side of the stone to its left.

However, the administrator of the web page Genealogy of Poles mentions in the entry of 20.09.2009, on the basis of the read inscriptions, as many as 97 names and additionally the names of 14 inhabitants of the village of Kąty murdered in August 1943 by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), to whom a memorial cross was erected today at the cemetery in Luboml https://genealogia.okiem.pl/artykul/1207 . The oldest inscription read, located on Urszula Górska's gravestone, contains the date1865. Most of the tombstones date from the inter-war period.

In recent years the cemetery has been cleaned up, which helped to finally establish its area (3.7 ha) http://https://monitorwolynski.com/pl/news/3884-28227 ; https://wid.org.pl/porzadkowanie-polskiego-cmentarza-w-lubomlu/ . As can be seen, there have been many significant changes to the cemetery since Zbigniew Hauser's description (overturned tombstones were placed, some were restored).
