Roman Catholic cemetery in Majdan

Situated in the western part of the village, the cemetery was probably established only at the beginning of the present century, judging from the dates on the surviving gravestones. It is located at the foot of a steep hill, on the edge of a forest which makes the landscape picturesque.

It is a typical rural cemetery, characterised by the lack of a definite spatial layout and tombstones rising directly from the turf. They have only Polish inscriptions, as the inhabitants of this Podkarpackie village are buried here.

According to Hauser, there is a lack of gravestones of particular artistic value, which he explains by the fact that the inhabitants could not afford grand and expensive monuments. Examples of burial forms include a simple iron cross or a stone obelisk on a foundation.

Documentation has been prepared for the cemetery (3 cards stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
