Cemetery in Baranavichy

According to the authors of the book "Zabytkowe cmentarze na Kresach Wschodnich Drugiej Rzeczypospolitej: województwo nowogródzkie", the cemetery was established in the first quarter of the 20th century and is still in use. Its area is 1.7 ha. It has a rectangular plan Unpublished and is fenced with a grid. It is bordered to the south by the Jewish cemetery, established at about the same time but with more recent gravestones. Both cemeteries are overgrown with pine forest. The oldest gravestone bears the inscription: "A.L.F. / UCZCIWEK / POLAK AMERICAN / CHICAGO JLL / KILLED ON ACTIVE DUTY / AMERICAN / Y.M.C.A. / 1897-1920". Noteworthy is the modernist tombstone of Piotr Samowicz with the inscription: "PIOTR WACŁAW / SAMOWICZ / MAJOR AUDITOR W.P. W ST.SP. / ADVOCATE / DIED DAYS. 30 JULY 1938 / AT THE AGE OF 56 / IN BARANOVICHI / ASKS FOR A HAIL MARY / TO HIS BELOVED HUSBAND AND FATHER WIFE AND DAUGHTER".

The cemetery also has an obelisk erected in memory of 182 repartition stage workers. "The brick and plaster obelisk is placed on a multi-stepped base. The inscription: "POLSKO / OUR MOTHER / IN SERVICE OF YOUR FAITH / WE DID OUR LIVES TO THE MEMORY OF 182 WORKERS / OF THE REPATRIATION STAGE IN / BARANOVICHS DIED / IN THE YEARS OF THE RENEWAL OF THE DUTY 1920-23".
