In 1920, on the anniversary of the capture of Baranovichi by Polish troops, the Freedom Monument was erected. In 1925 it was transformed into the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The monument took the form of a sculpture of a crowned eagle, set on a stone pedestal with an inscription.
