Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Baranavichy

In 1920, on the anniversary of the capture of Baranovichi by Polish troops, the Freedom Monument was erected. In 1925, it was transformed into the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The monument took the form of a sculpture of a crowned eagle, set on a stone pedestal with an inscription. From the moment it was unveiled, the monument became an important venue for state ceremonies and parades. It was destroyed in 1939. Photo source: Digital collections of the National Library POLONA.
