Dryświat cemetery

1 The church cemetery is located next to the church of Saints Peter and Paul. In the cemetery, on the eastern side, 4 tombstones of priests have been preserved, one of which has an illegible inscription. They are cubic pedestals on plinths, topped with crosses. They are the burial places of Rev. Jan Pawłowski from 1912, Rev. Ignacy Czernicki from the end of the 19th century and Rev. Justin Urbaitis from 1906. The preserved inscriptions proclaim: /PR. JAN PAWLOWSKI / ZYE AGED 63 DIED. 25 MARCH/1912 / ETERNAL REST DEIGN TO GIVE HIM / X. IGNACY CZERNICKI / FR. JUSTYN URBAITIS / + 7 JUNE 1906/.
The active Catholic cemetery, established in the first half of the 19th century, is located approx. 500 m west of the church. The rectangular-plan cemetery, located on a slight hill, occupies an area of 0.4 ha and is fenced in by a grid with an entrance gate on the south side. There is no division into alleys and plots, the graves are distributed freely throughout the cemetery. In the central part of the establishment are the remains of the foundations of the cemetery chapel. According to researchers, the chapel was built in 1830 from the foundation of Józef Koziell-Poklewski, who was a district governor of Dzierno and a member of the Sejm. The oldest burials from the first half of the 19th century have been preserved around the chapel. The oldest grave, in the form of a granite cuboid pedestal topped with a cast-iron cross (only traces of the cross remain), dating from 1842, is that of Klotylda Kopciówna. The preserved inscription reads: / KLOTYLDA/ KOPCIÓNA/ ZM. DN. 25. NOV. 1842/ AT THE AGE OF 5/.
. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
