Cemetery in Dyrvynets

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Lewkowski and Walczak: "The active Catholic village cemetery is located on the south-eastern edge of the village (...). It is surrounded by fields, established on a flat area, rectangular in plan, without division into alleys and plots. It was originally fenced with a stone embankment, now with a net with a gate on the eastern side. It covers an area of 0.2 hectares. It was founded in 1882, as evidenced by the foundation stone at the cemetery gate. The oldest preserved tombstone is a granite pedestal on the grave of Kastula Poźniakowska from 1887. The cemetery is dominated by burials from the 1st half of the 20th century and contemporary ones. Names recur in the inscriptions: Zdanowicz, Ściepur, Późniak. The area of the cemetery is overgrown with pine forest. Good state of preservation. "Noteworthy is the inscription from the tombstone of the Ściepur family: "THIS CROSS ERECTED FOR THE SOUL OF THE HOLY / MEMORY OF ŚCIEPUR ANTONI / FELL IN DEFENCE OF THE FATHERLAND DN. 27 I 1942 / LIVED 30 YEARS AND FOR ŚCIEPUR FLORIAN / D. 1 / XI 1931 / LIVED 15 YEARS. PEACE TO THEIR SOULS".
