Cemetery in Ilya

An active Catholic cemetery established in the mid-19th century is located on the western edge of the village. The rectangular-plan cemetery, located on a flat area, covers an area of 0.3 ha and is fenced with a wooden fence. The entrance to the cemetery is on the northern side. A path on an axis runs through the cemetery, dividing the establishment into two parts. The oldest tombstones are located on the right side of the path, in the central part of the cemetery, in the Tukał family section. The tombstone from 1844 is in the form of a granite vertical slab, with a slanted face. The slab was inscribed by Jozef Horbacevich. The inscription has been preserved: / IN THE MEMORY OF DESCENDANTS / AND THE HISTORY OF THE STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM / YOU WILL REMAIN FOREVER / D. O. M. /./ S. P. / MIECZYSLAW TUKALLO / MARSZALEK PTU WILEJSKI / BORN. 20 MAY 1817 DIED. 14 SIERP. 1883 R././ D. O. M. / S. P. / KONSTANCYA ZE SWIADOW / TUKALLOWA / PODKOMORZYNA PTU WILEJSKIEGO / DIED 1844.
