Cemetery in Kivertsy

The cemetery in Kiwerce is located a few hundred metres from the parish church. It is an active and fairly well-maintained cemetery with an area of about 2 ha. According to Zbigniew Hauser, there are Polish tombstones among the Ukrainian ones. The author found 8 of them and assessed their artistic value as rather mediocre, despite their magnificence. Zbigniew Hauser mentions as the most interesting the monument to the tragically deceased children: Stanisław Ostrowski and Bernard Sienkiewicz from 1932, depicting a sculpture of an angel with two boys sitting at his feet, and the monument to Zinaida of Savicka Sonty, who died in 1935, depicting a figure of the Virgin Mary on a pedestal. It is signed: 'S. Malowański of Kunów". A rhymed, elaborate inscription was engraved on the monument, unfortunately part of it has been obliterated. A photograph has also not survived, with only a trace remaining. The Anthill organisation, which carried out the 2021-2022 restoration work at the cemetery, lists around 100 Polish gravestones. One of them, made in cast concrete technique, the gravestone of Wiktor Marcinkowski, who died in 1935, has undergone complete restoration http://https://www.facebook.com/people/Anthill/100080303221120/?sk=videos . Those around it, the 10 nearest tombstones, have been cleaned. The remaining tombstones also require this type of work. Documentation was made for the cemetery (1 cemetery card and 68 tombstones cards) stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, 20 most valuable tombstones were provided with inventory cards. The local community takes care of the cemetery on an ongoing basis https://monitorwolynski.com/pl/news/3621-26934 . Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
