Cemetery in Lubien Wielki

Located in the south-eastern part of the town, the Catholic cemetery was probably established in the first decades of the second half of the 19th century, as Hauser infers from the inscription on the tombstone of Leonard Majer (d. 1879).

The cemetery is active and very carefully maintained. Today, however, there are almost exclusively Ukrainian tombstones, Polish ones are few and have obliterated inscriptions. According to Hauser, they may have been removed after the Second World War.

As the most interesting tombstones, the author of the study mentions the above-mentioned Leonard Majer's tombstone in the form of a high obelisk with a vase and leaf ornamentation, or Marianna Dobkiewiczowa's, topped with a cross, with arms in the shape of cannon barrels.
