Cemetery in Michaliszki

1 The church cemetery, located next to St Michael's Church dating from 1653, contains only one gravestone. It is a granite obelisk topped with a sphere and a crucifix. It is the grave of Stefania ZEBROWSKICH ZONGOLOWICZOWEY, dating from 1857. The preserved inscription reads as follows: / TO MY LOVE WOMAN / AND MOTHER / STEFANIA ZEBROWSKICH / ZONGOLLOWICZOWEY / BURNED BY A PAINFUL LOSS OF MAZ / WITH A SMOOTH LITTLE BIRTH / I SIGN THIS PAMBLE / ZYLA LAT 27 / DIED 1857 R. JANUARY 25 / PASSERBY SIGH FOR HER SOUL / TO GOD/.
The active Catholic cemetery (former parish cemetery), established in the 1st half of the 19th century, is located on the western edge of the village. The cemetery has a rectangular ground plan and is situated on undulating terrain. It covers an area of 1.4 ha and is fenced with a mesh fence. It is not divided into alleys and plots. Gravestones from the 1st half of the 20th century predominate. There is a brick chapel in the western part of the cemetery and the oldest graves are located around it. The T-shaped chapel was founded by the Kotwicz family in the middle of the 19th century. On the gate in front of the chapel the following inscription has been preserved: /Grieve us, that we are not with you/Then time will come, you will be with us/Our miseries and sorrows will be soothed by the earth, will be held forever/The oldest preserved gravestone is a granite pedestal, partly collapsed. It is the grave of Janina Żylińska, from 1873, with the preserved inscription: / KAZIMIERA/ DAUGHTER OF JOZEF / ZYLINSKA/ DIED. 27 SEPTEMBER / 1892 / ZYLA AGED 72 / ETERNAL REST/ D. O.
