Niestaniszki cemetery

The active Catholic cemetery, established in the second half of the 19th century, is in the centre of the village. The cemetery has an irregular polygonal ground plan and is situated on undulating terrain. It covers an area of 2.5 hectares and is fenced with a wooden fence, with a gate on the eastern side. It is not divided into alleys and quarters. It is bordered to the north by the 1905 Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The oldest part of the cemetery, the south-eastern part, has been cleared of graves, its trees cut down and the site divided into plots. The oldest dated gravestone is located there. A granite pedestal of Jan Blaszkiewicz from 1869. The inscription on it has survived: / THE LATE JAN/ BŁASZKIEWICZ/ BROTHER BACHELOR AGED 67/ DIED 6 JAN. 1869/ ASKS FOR 3 PRAYERS/. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
