Cemetery in Pustomyty

The cemetery, located in the south-eastern part of Pustomyt, contains mainly Ukrainian inscriptions. The only gravestone with a Polish inscription that has survived belongs to a 3-month-old child named Edward, son of Tytus and Olga Kozłowski (d. 1883). It has the form of a plinth with an inscription.

According to Hauser, there were more gravestones with Polish inscriptions in this cemetery between the First and Second World Wars. This is inferred from the fact that Pustomyty was once a well-known health resort near Lwów.

There was also another old cemetery with Polish inscriptions, which, according to local residents, was plundered 30 years ago. In 2015, it was cleaned up and consecrated thanks to the cooperation of local authorities, volunteers and the Polish consulate.

New graves predominate in the preserved cemetery. Of the older ones with Ukrainian inscriptions, Hauser mentions the imposing gravestone of Dmytr and Agrepina Wenger (d. 1938?) with a sculpture of Christ leaning against a cross or the monument topped by a statue of a holy bishop, hidden in dense bushes.

Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
