Biography:

Czesław Jankowski (born 9 December 1857 in Oshmia, died 6 October 1929 in Vilnius) - Polish poet, literary critic, publicist, historian, sightseeing and social activist. He used the pseudonyms "Czesław" and "Litwin". An active promoter of Polish culture in the Vilnius region.

Education and professional activities

He graduated from the classical gymnasium in Mitava, after which he studied Russian philology at the Imperial Warsaw University and the Jagiellonian University. He spent most of his life in Vilnius, where he was an active participant in the literary and cultural life of the city. He was editor of the "Polish Voice", collaborated with Vilnius conservatives and was active in local communities.

Literary works

Czeslaw Jankowski left a rich literary output, including poetry, prose, essays, literary criticism and translations. His works are dominated by patriotic, landscape and historical themes, especially related to the Vilnius region.
