Biography:

Czesław Makowski (1873-1921), Polish sculptor. He studied with Ludwik Pyrowicz, took drawing lessons from Wojciech Gerson at the Warsaw Drawing School, and was taught sculpture by Cyprian Godecki Jan Woydyga. From 1899 he studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under Syrius Eberle. After two years, he left for Rome to study at the Regio Istituto di Bellearti. He returned to Warsaw in 1901, creating mainly monuments, busts and medallions. He died in 1921 of typhoid fever, which a relative from Russia had infected him with. He was buried in the Powązki cemetery.
